Re-usable Cases

Being tasked with designing a shipping case that would protects and secure its high value, fragile content whilst at the same time enable easy loading and unloading is a standard job at PKM. However what made this specific job a little more complex was the customer required cases to be reusable and effective for over 50 trips. To make the job economically viable they want the case to collapse down so that more cases could be shipped back in one container.

Open communication with our customer was imperative as it uncovered a number of other restrictions such as gross weight and materials we could use. After proposing a number of different designs, including screws, bolts, banding and clips, it was agreed a completely foam lined collapsible case held together with clips would be the best option. The screws and bolts would reduce the life span too much.

The cases are now in full circulation and our customer is more than happy with the design, with goods being protected and the loading time being reduced significantly. The fact that our customer is saving money after 5 trips when compared to shipping one way cases is a bonus.

Having established trust with this new customer we have developed a good relationship and we are now export packing aerospace components for them.
